In Payroll, internal accounting dimensions can be defined directly to individual salary type rows in the salary slip. This helps improve the accuracy of accounting allocations, reduces the need for manual corrections, and streamlines payroll processes. (This new feature was introduced as part of the version update released on July 30, 2026.)

Each salary type row in the salary slip can be dimensioned separately before the payslip is approved and the accounting page is created. The dimensions assigned to the row are transferred directly to accounting, eliminating the need to add dimensions later when the payslip is approved. This way, for example, salaries and related expenses allocated to different cost centers are distributed correctly without subsequent changes. If needed, dimensions can still be edited on the salary slip’s accounting page.

Dimensioning supports both percentage and quantity-based input methods on a row-by-row basis.

Row-based dimensioning is enabled on a company-specific basis in the usage settings:
​Management > Company info > Usage settings > Payroll > Calculation settings > Internal accounting dimensions

Note that setting is only visible when the renewed Procountor views is activated. The renewed views can be activated from the menu opened via the avatar icon in the top-right corner by selecting Activate views.

You must use the Finago theme, which can be verified in Personal info and settings > Layout and theme. The color theme must be set to Finago to enable the new views.

After enabling internal accounting dimensions, you can still return to the classic Procountor views if needed.

When enabling row-based dimensioning, the system adds employee’s default dimensions from the person register to the employee's salary base rows, from where they are transferred to new salary slips. Dimensions are not added to existing salary slips, but the software adds default dimensions to new salary slip rows. The user can edit the dimensions of the salary basis or salary slip rows if necessary.

​We recommend enabling row-based dimensioning at a time when there are no salary slips in Unfinished status or adding dimensions to all salary type rows in Unfinished salary slips. Salary slip approval does not add default dimensions to salary type row when row-based dimensioning is enabled.

If a salary slip that was in the Approved state before enabling the feature is returned to the Unfinished state after enabling row-based dimensioning, all dimensions will be removed from the salary slip, and they will have to be added to the salary type rows on the salary slip manually.

If you disable row-based dimensioning:

When row-based dimensioning is enabled, the employee's default dimensions are added into the salary base rows. Any salary basis rows added after activation will also inherit the employee’s default dimensions by default. If the employee does not have default dimensions, the row will be left without a dimension.

If the dimensions are changed in the salary base row, the change does not affect existing salary slips.

When a salary slip is created from a salary base, dimensioning is also transferred from the salary base rows to the salary slip. The employee's default dimensions are imported into the new salary type rows that are added to the salary slips. If the salary base row does not have a dimension, the salary slip row will be left without a dimension.

The user can edit the dimensions of the salary base row and the salary type row in the salary slip or remove dimensions from the row.

​Note. If the new salary slip is created by copying an existing salary slip, all the salary transaction and dimensions from the original salary slip will be copied to the new salary slip.

If an employee's base salary is changed on the Salary Info page of the Employee Register, the program replaces the current base salary row in the salary base with a new row. As a result, the dimensions previously added to the base salary row are removed, and they must be added manually to the new base salary row.

When the base salary is increased for several employees at once using the Edit salary info -function, the dimensions of the base salary row in the salary base remain unchanged.

If the employee's default dimensions are changed:

If row-based dimensioning is not enabled, the salary slip is dimensioned according to default dimensions upon approval.

If row-based dimensioning is enabled, the salary slip is dimensioned based on the dimensions assigned to the rows of the salary slip. In this case, payroll approval does not change existing row-based dimensions or add dimensions to rows that have not dimensions.

​Note. Salary type rows in salary categories 5 - Taxes and 6 - Net Deductions cannot be dimensioned. The rows are dimensioned according to the employee's default dimensions upon approval.

When a salary slip is approved, the program creates the dimensions of the accounting page based on the dimensions given to the salary slip.

If a salary type row has a dimension, the corresponding share of the employer contributions (salary category 8) expense items affecting the profit and loss are also allocated with the same dimensioning.

All balance sheet items, such as withholding tax and insurance liabilities, and the reconciliation difference account, are always dimensioned according to the employee's default dimensions. If no default dimensions have been defined for the employee, the balance sheet items and the reconciliation difference account are left without dimensions.

Dimensions are entered as either percentages or numbers. The selected input method is locked for each dimension in the salary type row, depending on how the first item in the dimension is entered. You can change the input method for a dimension in a salary type row by removing percentages or numbers from all items in that dimension. Each salary type rows can use different input methods.

If the quantity of salary type row is changed:

When you select a salary type row as active, the Dimensions section opens in the Additional row information section, displaying the dimensions of the salary type row.

Add row -function adds a new row.
​Copy row -function copies the selected row. The dimension, item, quantity, and percentage are copied to the new row. The function is activated when the row is selected.
​Delete row -function deletes the selected row. The function is activated when the row is selected.
​Delete all -function deletes all rows.
​Clear values -function deletes both quantities and percentages from all rows.

Dimensions can be imported to salary type rows directly via the API interface or CSV import. Imported dimensions can also be edited in the salary slip. For CSV import, the dimension must be created in Procountor.
