This article explains editable salary types in Finago Procountor.
Note! Editable salary types are available only in Procountor's renewed views.
General information
In Salary type register, you can create your own custom salary types by copying a Procountor default salary type. You can give the custom salary type a new name and change its unit value or percentage, depending on the properties of the original salary type. All other information is copied from the default salary type as is and cannot be changed.
Please note! You are responsible for the accuracy of the information in the custom salary types you create. Make sure that the default salary type selected as the base has the suitable income type and insurance allocations for the intended use, and that the unit value or percentage of the custom salary type is correct.
Salary type register
The salary type register displays all Procountor default salary types and custom salary types.
Open the register by selecting Management > Salary info > Salary type register.
The salary type register is available only in Procountor’s renewed views. To enable the renewed views, open the menu under the profile icon in the upper-right corner of the application and select Activate views. Activation requires the Finago colour theme. To check the colour theme, select Personal info and settings > Layout and teme. In the theme settings, select Finago as the colour theme.
Create a new salary type
Create a new custom salary type by copying a suitable default salary type as its basis.
You can change the name of the new salary type and, depending on the properties of the original salary type, either its unit value or percentage. All other properties are copied from the original salary type and cannot be changed.
Start by selecting the default salary type that you want to use as the basis for the new salary type. The income type of a custom salary type cannot be changed. Therefore, make sure that the selected default salary type has the correct income type.
Select Copy salary type. In the window that opens, enter a name for the new salary type and change the unit value or percentage if necessary. The field that can be edited depends on the original salary type.
When you save the custom salary type, its number consists of the number of the original salary type and a sequence number based on the copies created from it. The sequence number is the next available number for a salary type copied from that default salary type. There can be a maximum of 99 custom salary types copied from the same default salary type.
The custom salary type is displayed in the salary type register below the original salary type.
User rights
A user with Salaries > Payroll > All rights can add custom salary types.
A user with viewing rights can view custom salary types but cannot add them.
Default salary types cannot be edited with any user rights.
Accounting accounts
By default, a new custom salary type is assigned the same accounting account as the original default salary type. If the company uses row-specific posting, you can define an accounting account for each salary type, including custom salary types, by selecting Management > Accounting info > Posting defaults > Default salary postings.
You can enable row-specific posting by selecting Management > Company info > Usage settings > Accounting. Under Default posting method for salary slips, select By row.
By default, a custom salary type is assigned the original accounting account of the default salary type. If the accounting account of the default salary type being copied has been changed, the change is not transferred to the custom salary type.
Salary base and salary slip
Custom salary types are displayed in the Add salary type function on the salary base and salary slip. You can add them to both the salary base and the salary slip. Custom salary types are also displayed in the quick-add list for salary types.
A custom salary type is displayed in the list immediately after the original salary type, regardless of the salary type number.
Data import
When creating a salary list, you can import salary transactions from a CSV file. The file may also contain custom salary types. Custom salary types can also be imported later through the API.
Salary types that cannot be copied
The following salary types cannot be copied as custom salary types:
Salary types linked to another salary type, such as a base salary deduction or the overtime compensation base. Coming later.
Salary types whose unit value is maintained by Procountor, such as kilometer allowances and daily allowances.
Salary types that involve automatic calculation by the application, such as salary type 1459 Working time reduction compensation (automatic calculation) and automatic salary types used in holiday pay calculation.

Use cases
Custom salary types can be utilized in the following situations, for example:
A new salary type is copied for the manager's monthly salary, which is assigned a different accounting account than the monthly salary of the employees.
From salary type ‘4060 Travel expense compensation of construction services’, new salary types ‘Travel expense compensation of construction services over 5 km’, ‘Travel expense compensation of construction services over 10 km’, ‘Travel expense compensation of construction services over 20 km’ are copied with the correct unit price.
